Bible Changes Coming

Many of our UAW Members have experienced the loss of loved ones. Local 2166 has been able to show our concern for their loss, while at the same time providing them with comfort, consolation and hope by presenting them with a memorial bible.

These bibles are provided by United Memorial and are presented in honor of the immediate family member as defined in Paragraph 218b of the National Agreement.

Recently the Local received a letter from our provider concerning the Cedar Case Bible. As stated in the letter, the price of the cedar continues to escalate. The price to manufacture the cases also continues to climb. United Memorial is now unable to find a fully-Union supplier of a cedar case that meets the objectives of quality and price. Once United Memorial’s supply of cedar cases is exhausted they will no longer be able to provide our members with the cedar cased bible.

At that point United Memorial will provide this memorial bible in a 100% Union made leather type presentation case, (the Sierra). United Memorial was faced with the decision to provide you with a Non-Union cedar case, or a 100% Union made Leather presentation case.
