Financial Secretary's Report We have all seen the down turn in the U.S. economy. Our membership has dropped from 2800 members in 2006 to 1900 currently. We have seen how the down turn in our economy has effected production at the Shreveport Plant. Currently we have 4400 Active and retired members at Local 2166. Whether they are working or not, this is the number of members we service each day. Unfortunately, as we lose members to retirement, pre-retirement, and buyouts your Local Union loses income. Union dues are the sole source of income for Unions. Your Executive Board is working hard to review its financial position and make changes accordingly. We are looking at all aspects of our Local Union. Trying to get our income in line with your expenses can be a complicated task. We will be trying to cut our expenses without sacrificing representation. It is my hope that the membership will be understanding of the task at hand. As our economy changes, we have to change with it. Our job as your leadership is to make sure that we provide the best service to our membership with your dues dollars. Together we stand, Divided we fall. |
